Crescent Park features 378 units in 24 residential buildings on nearly 25 acres. The site also features a large resource center and is adjacent to the largest park in the City of Richmond parks system.
Crescent Park has had a comprehensive property renovation: interiors on each unit, exteriors, energy efficiency upgrades, enhanced community spaces, significantly larger community building (for extensive service and outreach programs), landscaping and site lighting. Conservation measures are also a substantial portion of this rehabilitation. EAH has worked to upgrade appliances, windows, furnaces, water heaters and light fixtures to more energy-efficient models.
The rehabilitation of Crescent Park reflects the emphasis on green building and sustainability that has become a priority at EAH Housing. At the forefront of the “greening” of Crescent Park is energy efficiency. A 908 kilowatt photovoltaic electricity system is being installed that will satisfy nearly one-fifth of the City of Richmond’s goal to see five megawatts of PV capacity within the city by 2010. Over its lifespan, the PV system at Crescent Park is estimated to prevent the release of over 30 million pounds of carbon dioxide, 27,000 pounds of nitrogen oxides, and 20,000 pounds of sulfur oxides.
