  John Sablan is moving up in the world. Just one year ago he was living with his mom and dad, and struggling to pay half the rent for their 3-bedroom apartment. He was confused about what steps he should take to improve his situation. Vera, EAH Housing's social service coordinator at Elena Gardens, led John to "San Jose One-Stop," and his life began to take a positive direction.

  Sheryl Lambert is a person that sets goals for herself and achieves them. Five years ago she was living in a very small apartment near Lake Merritt, working hard to make ends meet while raising her young son and daughter. Today, she has just purchased her own home and is expanding her home daycare business.

  Napoleon Simon believes that family comes first, and he has made many sacrifices in his life to provide a good home and a great education for his son. After a divorce and bankruptcy, he assumed full child custody for Simon. This required leaving a great sales job to be close to home, and taking double shifts at a delivery job to keep them afloat.

  Before Nancy Muldrow moved to EAH's Rodeo Gateway Apartments in November 2002, she constantly worried about her family’s ability to pay her escalating rent.
Jane Bakaluba, San Rafael, CA 3/1/2006
  EAH resident Jane Bakaluba has been helping others all her life, and she sees no reason to stop now. In November, she received a Board of Supervisors Award for her work as a Senior Peer Counselor for the Civic Center Volunteers Program.
Josie McDoal, Los Robles, CA 2/27/2006
  Josephine McDoal, 65, was born with severe glaucoma and lost what little sight she had by the age of 23. McDoal lived with her sister for a while, but things took an upturn when she found a subsidized rental apartment in EAH's Los Robles property. “It’s been a godsend to me,” says McDoal of her affordable housing.
