Nohona Hale (Kakaʻako micro-units with Bronx Pro) is located in the Kakaʻako District of Honolulu. A former surface parking lot, the 9,660 s.f. site is leased from the Hawaii Community Development Authority which sought to promote an affordable housing project that is green, promotes multi-modal transit, and representative of smart growth principles. Nohona Hale fulfills all of those goals by providing micro-units targeted to lower income households and maximizing the density of a previously under-utilized and centrally located infill parcel.
To enhance the living environment for residents, each apartment features floor to ceiling window walls that slide open to their own lanais. Building amenities include a community room, kitchen and lounge area, urban farm, fitness room and central laundry. A ground floor commercial space also activates the street presence.
