Michael Farrel joined EAH Housing in 1987. Prior to becoming Vice President in 2002, he worked at EAH as a Senior Property Supervisor and Assistant Vice President of Operations.

Employed in the real estate industry since 1977, Mr. Farrel’s experience includes positions as a Real Estate Appraiser and Mortgage Loan Officer. He was an Asset Property Manager with one of the largest professional management and development firms in the US, Prometheus Development Company, Inc. headquartered in Cupertino, California, where he supervised large multifamily market-rate apartment communities in Northern California including 1,100 units and thirty employees.

Before joining Prometheus, he was employed as a Property Manager by RMCO, Inc., a real estate management firm based in San Jose, California. While with RMCO, he provided asset management to nine market-rate complexes in San Jose.

Immediately prior to joining EAH, Mr. Farrel was the Operations Manager for Ellenberg Capital Corporation, located in Santa Cruz, California. He was directly responsible for the oversight and management of twenty-six mobile home parks in eight states.

Mr. Farrel became a member of the Board of Directors for the Affordable Housing Management Association of Northern California, Nevada and Hawaii (AHMA NCNH) in 2000 and served on the board until 2011. He served as Vice President (one term) and President (two terms) of the Board of Directors. He was granted the prestigious Pamela Stroud Lifetime Achievement Leadership Award by AHMA NCNH in 2011.

Mr. Farrel has received the designation of Housing Credit Certification Professional (HCCP), Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM), and Fair Housing/Section 504 Compliance (FHC) from the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA). He completed Property Financial and Real Estate Management studies with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM). In addition, he completed US Department of Housing and Urban Development Uniform Physical Condition Standards (UPCS), Physical Inspection training in Washington D.C.

Mr. Farrel attended the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he studied Business Management, and San Jose City College, where he completed real estate marketing and management courses. He holds a California Real Estate Associate License.
