The Laurel is an EAH Housing adaptive reuse project in Santa Monica and the city's first permanent supportive housing community, delivering 58 studios for individuals transitioning from homelessness. Designed by KFA Architecture and built by Westport Construction, the project transforms the historic Japanese American Nikkei Hall into a resident lounge while adding new residential construction around it. Project-based rental vouchers from the city fund all units, while The People Concern delivers case management, mental health, and daily living services on-site.
