Cathedral Gardens is an affordable rental housing community designed for families. Centrally located near downtown, 1/2 mile from BART, the community consists of 100 apartment homes built on an ideal infill site. The development incorporates a mix of new construction and historic rehab. Two new buildings, one three stories and the other four stories, are constructed on either side of a rehabilitated 110-year old historic rectory building. The four story building is constructed over a sunken structured parking garage with a landscaped podium deck to provide usable outdoor space for residents.
Cathedral Gardens is a public/private joint venture between the Oakland Housing Authority and nonprofit developer EAH Housing. The two organizations came together to address a dire need for more affordable housing in the City of Oakland.
