Hale Nā Koa ‘O Hanakahi

Hale Nā Koa ʻO Hanakahi is a LEED Silver affordable housing community in Hilo for older adults 62+, with priority for U.S. military veterans and surviving spouses. Completed in 2025 on 5.5 landscaped acres, the 92-apartment property comprises one-bedroom homes in two-story buildings serving households at 30%, 50%, 60%, and 80% of the area median income (AMI), with 50 apartments backed by Project-Based Section 8. The community grew from a decade-plus effort led by Hawaiʻi Island Veterans Memorial, Inc., and includes a coffee bar, fitness room, dog park, sheltered lānai, and multipurpose room for social programming.
