April 13, 2023 – EAH Housing has broken ground on Mission Paradise, a 76-unit affordable senior housing community in Hayward, Calif.

DAHLIN Group serves as the project’s main architect, with J.H. Fitzmaurice Inc. as the general contractor. The financing for the development was provided by the California Department of Housing and Community Development – AcceleratorChase, County of Alameda, City of Hayward, MHP and NPLH. According to public sources, the California Housing Accelerator Program provided approximately $41.2 million for the project.

Upon completion, the apartment community will cater to low-income seniors earning between 20 and 80 percent of the area median income. Approximately 11 units will be set aside for individuals with severe mental illnesses and 15 apartments will be designated for formerly homeless individuals and families.

Mission Paradise will incorporate two buildings with one- and two-bedroom floorplans ranging between 535 and 910 square feet. Common-area amenities will include a fitness room, a yoga deck, a community room, a computer lab, a laundry room, outdoor roof deck area and parking spaces. The property will also feature 24/h staff, resource coordinators and case management services.

The transit-oriented community is located at 28000 Mission Blvd., in the Bay Area’s East Bay market. The 2-acre development site is near the junction of Interstate 580, Interstate 238 and Interstate 880, which provide easy access to downtown Oakland, San Francisco and San Jose, Calif. The development is situated in an area with several retail centers, dining options and green spaces.
