September 1, 2022 – EAH Housing, one of the largest and most respected nonprofit housing development and management organizations in the western United States, today announced plans for a new affordable housing community – Pointe on La Brea – in collaboration with FSY Architects, an award-winning architectural firm based in Los Angeles, and Westport Construction, one of the state’s leading construction companies specializing in affordable housing. Upon completion, the project will transform a former auto body shop into a five-story, 50-unit permanent supportive housing community.

“Going home every night to a safe space you can call your own should not be a privilege. Here in Los Angeles, we are working closely with our partners to ensure that every Angeleno has access to housing with the appropriate services,” said Mayor Eric Garcetti. “Pointe on La Brea is yet another result of the success of HHH and our tireless efforts to produce quality housing for those most in need.”

Located at 849 N. La Brea, Pointe on La Brea is a Measure HHH development that will include 49 income restricted studio apartments for individuals experiencing homelessness and those impacted by mental illness, and an apartment for the resident manager. Of the 49 permanent supportive affordable housing units, 25 will be reserved for the chronically homeless.

The project is financed by the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee, LP Tax Credit Equity, City of Los Angeles (LAHD) HHH, and Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA), including: NPLH, Measure H, MHHP, and general fund.

“EAH Housing has over 50 years of experience building affordable housing and I’m pleased to have them doing a quality HHH project in Council District 5,” said Paul Koretz, Fifth District Councilmember. “Point on La Brea leverages the organization’s relationships with leading architects, construction companies, subcontractors and suppliers, and the result should provide an important boost to our effort to combat homelessness.”

The Pointe on La Brea is located near the border of Hollywood and West Hollywood, where it will fit seamlessly within the surrounding density and scale, while maximizing the number of units possible for the 11,260-square-foot site. Common spaces will include a community room, public open space, case management offices, community kitchen, on-site laundry facilities, public courtyard, roof deck, and bicycle parking. Residents will have access to on-site supportive services.

“We’re proud to receive this vote of confidence from the City of Los Angeles for Pointe on La Brea and to have the opportunity to help solve the escalating affordability crisis.” said Laura Hall, President and CEO at EAH Housing. “As an affordable housing developer and property manager, the Pointe on La Brea is one of over 30 new projects in development. Our pipeline exemplifies our goal to create inclusive, sustainable, and thriving neighborhoods.”
