New Apartment Community Now Accepting Rental Applications

San Rafael, CA (July 22, 2019) – EAH Housing, a nonprofit affordable housing organization, hosted California Assemblymember Buffy Wicks on a tour of Estrella Vista, an 87 unit affordable housing development on the border of Emeryville and Oakland.

“One of the most critical issues facing Californians today, especially my constituents, is affordable housing,” said Assemblymember Buffy Wicks. “The partnership between EAH Housing, Emeryville and Oakland should be a model for all cities to follow because of their cooperation and determination in getting Estrella Vista built. Soon, hundreds of working families, veterans, seniors and people with disabilities will have a place to call home.”

The rental community is nearing completion and is currently accepting applications until Saturday, July 27 at a temporary leasing office at Cathedral Gardens in Oakland. Apartments range in size from studios, to one-, two-, three- and four-bedroom units.

“We are proud to host Assemblymember Wicks today and appreciate her commitment to affordable housing,” said Welton Jordan, vice president of real estate development of EAH Housing. “With the support of our legislators, local government, the community and others, we can create more affordable multifamily housing by working together to create collaborative and innovative solutions.”

Estrella Vista is a mixed-use, transit-oriented development (TOD). It is near several bus lines and less than one mile away from BART. It is conveniently located near shopping and entertainment, and includes 700 square feet of retail space.

“What was once a commercially-zoned vacant lot is now high quality, affordable housing,” said Ally Medina, mayor of Emeryville. “The people of Emeryville recognize the urgent need to produce more affordable housing and are taking proactive steps, such as rezoning and passing affordable housing bonds, to ensure our city’s economic and social diversity.”

For more than 50 years, it has been the mission of EAH Housing to develop, manage and promote quality affordable housing and sustainable, diverse communities. The organization serves 20,000 people every day – working families, seniors, veterans and people with disabilities in California and Hawaii – and EAH will be the ongoing owner and property manager of Estrella Vista.
