$160,000 Raised at Bold Solutions LA Gala

On May 28, EAH Housing hosted its first-ever Bold Solutions fundraising gala in Los Angeles, bringing together housing leaders, partners, and supporters for an evening of connection and shared purpose. The event raised $160,000 to support affordable housing initiatives and the EAH Housing Scholarship Fund.
The night centered on a panel discussion, "Power of the Home," moderated by Politico journalist Liam Dillon and featuring LA County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath and UCLA Lewis Center researcher Shane Phillips. The conversation explored practical, research-backed solutions to the housing crisis and the policy work driving progress across the region.
The evening's most powerful moment came from scholarship recipient Haron Samhan, who took the stage at USC — the very university where he had just earned his degree in Aerospace Engineering two weeks prior.
Haron grew up in an EAH Housing community in Walnut Creek, where his family has lived for over 22 years. His parents immigrated from Egypt in search of stability and opportunity — and affordable housing made it possible to build a life in a city where market-rate rents would have otherwise been out of reach.
The EAH scholarship found its way to Haron in middle school, when his mother went door to door in their building asking what college funding was available for her son. Years later, that early investment paid off. The scholarship helped ease the financial burden of attending USC and, through the scholarship network, connected him to a manufacturing engineering internship he has since started.
What makes Haron's story especially remarkable: all three siblings received the EAH scholarship. His brother recently graduated from law school. His sister is in her first year at UCLA.
"When I think about where we started, and the fact that all three of us made it to college and beyond — I see that it is from my very own low-income community and programs like this that led to the success I am fortunate enough to hold today."
