Six months after we last stopped by, vertical construction is complete at the Magnolia Villas, a new senior affordable housing development from EAH Housing.

Located near the intersection of 10th Street and Broadway in Santa Monica, the more than $23-million project consists of a four-story edifice that will offer 40 one- and two-bedroom apartments.   The housing will be reserved for older adults making 60 percent or less than the area median income with rents expected to range from $548 to $1,136 per month.  Preference will be given to applicants that already live or work in Santa Monica.

DE Architects is designing the Magnolia Villas, which employs cantilevers, inset balconies, and roof terraces to give texture to its facade while also creating common and private decks for use by its residents.

At the time the project broke ground in early 2020, completion was expected in Fall 2021.

EAH Housing, which is based in the Bay Area and has a Los Angeles office, recently completed work on the Pointe on Vermont, another affordable housing complex in the Vermont Vista neighborhood.

The non-profit developer is also planning additional housing in Santa Monica’s Pico neighborhood and in Hollywood.
