EAH Housing has partnered with the Silicon Valley African American Cultural Center to develop the residential component of its landmark San Jose campus—bringing 150 new affordable homes to the heart of the city. The project will integrate housing with a cultural hub celebrating Black history, arts, and community programming, creating a lasting legacy for generations to come.
The center, which is set to break ground this year, will feature a museum, performance spaces, youth programs, and community services alongside extremely low-income and very low-income permanent supportive housing. The development will also include an on-site health clinic from Roots Community Clinics and behavioral health services from Ujima Adult and Family Services.

A Vision for Cultural Celebration and Community Services

More than just a cultural center, the African American Cultural Center Project will be a mixed-use, signature development consisting of three major components: a new home for the African American Community Services Agency (AACSA) with flexible retail, community, and commercial space; extremely and very low-income permanent supportive housing; and comprehensive health and behavioral health services.

The community center, to be owned and operated by AACSA, will represent the foundation of the project. The Center will serve as a hub for people celebrating and experiencing the ongoing contributions of African Americans—in education, music, theater, dance, science, athletics, business, and many other aspects of American life. It will bring together people from all walks of life and foster mutual understanding and appreciation rooted in the values and ideals that drive the evolution of dynamic cultures worldwide.

The center will include meeting halls, banquet facilities, service organization offices, youth development facilities, a library, a Museum Gallery, social service providers, family, senior, and youth programs, child care, retail shops, and a theater/auditorium.

In this partnership with the Silicon Valley African American Cultural Center represents a commitment to creating housing that goes beyond shelter, providing residents with access to cultural programming, health services, and community resources that support long-term stability and well-being.

The development will take into consideration surrounding neighborhoods, residences, and businesses, integrating thoughtfully into the San Jose community while serving as a beacon of cultural celebration and community support.

The vision encompasses three core pillars:
**Cultural Celebration:**A vibrant space celebrating African American contributions to education, arts, science, and community life.
Community Services: Comprehensive social services, health clinics, and support programs for families and individuals.
Affordable Housing: 150 units of permanent supportive housing that provide stability and community connection for residents.

The project is expected to break ground this year, bringing together housing, culture, and services in a transformative development that honors the contributions of African Americans while addressing critical housing and service needs in Silicon Valley.
