Transforming Glendale Assisted Living Facility into Affordable Housing

EAH Housing has announced plans for Parkview Glendale, a project that will turn a former assisted living facility into 68 affordable homes for seniors in Los Angeles County.

Working with Egan | Simon Architecture, Inc., a Los Angeles architecture and construction management firm, and ICON National, a leading construction services company, the project will bring much-needed affordable housing to Glendale's Citrus Grove neighborhood.

The 43,000-square-foot building, built in 1973, will be updated to include 20 studio apartments (350 to 360 sq ft), 47 one-bedroom apartments (400 to 475 sq ft), and a 750-square-foot manager unit. Each apartment will have energy-efficient appliances, central heating and air, and window coverings.

Parkview Glendale is meant for older adults who earn 30% to 60% of the local area median income (AMI). The building will have indoor and outdoor spaces that encourage socializing and support residents’ well-being. EAH Housing will have an on-site Resident Services Coordinator and will work with local organizations to offer special programs that help residents stay healthy and engaged.eing.

Parkview Glendale is located in the Citrus Grove neighborhood, giving residents easy access to bus and Metrolink lines, as well as the I-134 freeway. The community is within a mile of grocery stores, healthcare, banks, post offices, city offices, major shops, and restaurants.
