Rodeo Gateway Reopens After $31M Renovation

EAH Housing celebrated the grand reopening of Rodeo Gateway, an affordable senior housing community in Rodeo, California, following a $31 million rehabilitation that transformed the property inside and out.
Led by TWM Architects and ICON National, the renovations included fully modernized units, ADA-compliant upgrades, and revitalized common areas designed to support connection, comfort, and wellness among residents.
The celebration was attended by California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Contra Costa County Supervisor Shanelle Scales-Preston, and representatives from Merritt Community Capital Corporation and Umpqua Bank. Resident Jill Niles offered a moving reflection on what Rodeo Gateway means to the people who call it home.
Situated in Rodeo, California, Rodeo Gateway features 40 one-bedroom apartments and a two-bedroom manager's unit, offering a thoughtfully designed living environment for seniors 62 and older. The community features a beautifully landscaped courtyard, tree-lined walkways, comfortable seating areas, and resident amenities including a sunroom, computer lab, and fully equipped community kitchen.
Highlights of the rehabilitation include:
- Upgraded residences with new energy-efficient appliances, high-efficiency LED lighting, new flooring, and updated kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, sinks, and fixtures
- Enhanced ADA-compliant amenities, including roll-in showers and improved mobility features
- Newly designed community room featuring new furnishings, flooring, paint, and window coverings
- Improved air circulation in common hallways
- New security features, including an updated entry call system with key fob access and a new WiFi system.
