Pointe on La Brea Transforms West Hollywood Auto Shop into 50 Units of Supportive Housing

Pointe On La Brea celebrated its grand opening in May 2024, marking the transformation of a former auto body shop into a five-story, 50-unit permanent supportive housing community at the Hollywood-West Hollywood border.
Situated at 849 N. La Brea, the development provides 49 fully furnished studio apartments for individuals experiencing homelessness and mental illness, alongside a unit for the resident manager. Among these units, 25 are specifically designated for those facing chronic homelessness.
"The opening of Pointe On La Brea is a huge step forward for the Fifth Council District as we work to bring more permanent supportive housing online," said Councilwoman Katy Yaroslavsky. "Building more housing and providing access to supportive services is the only way we will make meaningful progress on our homelessness crisis."
Amenities include a community room, public open space, case management offices, community kitchen, on-site laundry facilities, public courtyard, roof deck, and bicycle parking, ensuring residents can access comprehensive supportive services on-site.
"I am excited to welcome Pointe on La Brea to the Third District," said Board Chair Lindsey P. Horvath. "We urgently need supportive, permanent housing like Pointe on La Brea across Los Angeles County.

The grand opening celebration brought together community leaders, partners, and residents to mark this milestone. District 5 Deputy Chief of Staff Fernando Morales, District 3 Deputy Supervisor of Housing and Homelessness Catherine Landers, Los Angeles County Development Authority Executive Director Emilio Salas, and Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health Director Dr. Lisa Wong joined the celebration.
Pointe on La Brea was constructed in partnership with FSY Architects, an award-winning architectural firm based in Los Angeles, and Westport Construction, one of the state's leading construction companies specializing in affordable housing. LifeSTEPS provides on-site resident services.
The development was financed by the California Debt Limit Allocation Committee, LP Tax Credit Equity, City of Los Angeles (LAHD) HHH, and Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA), including NPLH, Measure H, MHHP, and general fund.
